Farmakem specialises in the research and development, production, supply, and distribution of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).
Founded in December 2015 by four partners with strong backgrounds in pharmaceutics, industry, and commerce, the company has grown into a trusted pharmaceutical partner serving customers across the European Union and worldwide.

Farmakem was the first company in Slovenia to receive a licence for the import of medicinal cannabis and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
For five consecutive years, Farmakem has been a reliable supplier of CBD API to Slovenia’s largest and most prestigious healthcare institution — University Medical Centre Ljubljana.
In 2017, Farmakem developed Cebexan™, the first certified EU cGMP cannabidiol (CBD) API of natural origin, positioning the company at the forefront of pharmaceutical cannabinoid development.

The Winner of Public Tender
Farmakem wins public tender of supplying CBD to Slovenia’s largest and most prestigious health institution, the University Medical Centre, Ljubljana.
GMP Manufacturer
Farmakem becomes a GMP ph. grade API manufacturer, in collaboration with its British strategic partner and its subsidiary in the USA (MHRA and FDA licences granted). Farmakem owns the intellectual property involved in the manufacture and processing of its CBD API.
EU GMP Licence
Farmakem obtains EU GMP manufacturing licence for primary and secondary packaging of APIs in powder and liquid form. Farmakem's manufacturing facility is located in Hoče, Slovenia.
Narcotic Licence
Farmakem obtains a narcotic license for the development and implementation of production activities, including primary and secondary packaging, as well as the dilution of standardized cannabis extract.
EU GMP For Medicinal Products
Farmakem obtains EU GMP manufacturing licence for primary and secondary packaging of medicinal products. Farmakem's manufacturing facility is located in Hoče, Slovenia.
EU GDP For Medicinal Products
Farmakem obtains EU GDP International wholesale licence for the distribution of medicinal products.
CBD/MCT Oil Solution (DAC/NRF 22.10)
Farmakem successfully manufactured validation batches of its new CBD/MCT oil solution, developed in accordance with DAC/NRF 22.10. In collaboration with a third-party laboratory, analytical methods were developed and validated. Stability testing has been initiated. An audit by the Slovenian regulatory agency and the acquisition of manufacturing licences are planned for Q3 2025.
EU GMP Medical Cannabis Facility
In May 2025, Farmakem acquired a second EU GMP-compliant facility in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The site is already fully equipped, with requalification and revalidation activities currently underway. The facility will be dedicated to the reprocessing and repackaging of medical cannabis, including the manufacturing of validation batches in accordance with EU GMP standards.
